Manglik Matching for Marriage
Mangal dosha is checked separately from the thirty-six gunas. The Ashtakoota system is calculated from the Moon and does not assess Mars at all, so a pairing can score well on guna and still raise a Manglik question — which is why the two checks are reported side by side rather than merged into one number.
How it is checked between two charts
The placement is assessed in each chart independently: Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, counted from the lagna, from the Moon and from Venus. The 2nd house is counted in North Indian practice and commonly omitted in South Indian practice.
The comparison then asks not only whether each chart carries the placement, but whether the recognised cancellation conditions apply to either.
The mutual-cancellation rule
The most widely cited principle in the tradition is that where both partners' charts carry the placement, it is held to cancel between them. This is a standard rule within the classical material rather than a concession to it.
Other cancellation conditions apply per chart — Mars in its own or exaltation sign, aspect from or conjunction with Jupiter, particular placements for particular ascendants, and the maturity of the individuals.
What AaradhyaHub reports
The free Kundli Milan runs the check on both charts from all three reference points, states which cancellation conditions are present, and applies the mutual rule where both charts qualify. The guna breakdown is shown beside it, not merged with it.
Presenting the two separately is deliberate: they answer different questions, and combining them into a single verdict would hide which one produced it.
How to weigh it
Vedic astrology is a traditional system of belief and is presented here as one. A Manglik finding is not a prediction about a marriage, and no calculation on this site determines an outcome.
Where it is raised, the useful response is to read it in full — all three reference points, and the cancellation conditions the tradition records alongside the rule.

Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?
The tradition records cancellation conditions that can apply to a single chart — Mars in its own or exaltation sign, aspect from Jupiter, and others — so the question is not settled by the label alone. Families commonly consult an astrologer on the specific charts rather than on the category.
Does Guna Milan include Mangal dosha?
No. The 36-guna Ashtakoota system is calculated from the two Moon signs and nakshatras and does not assess Mars. Mangal dosha is a separate check, which is why both are reported.
Why do two astrologers disagree about whether I am Manglik?
Most often because of the 2nd house, which North Indian practice counts and South Indian practice commonly does not, and because the placement may appear from one reference point but not another. Seeing all three views is what makes the disagreement legible.
