🚩 Hanuman Puja · हनुमान पूजा
Also called Bajrangbali Puja · Hanuman Chalisa Path · बजरंगबली पूजा
Hanuman Puja is the worship of Hanuman ji — Rama's devoted servant, the son of the wind, and the deity Hindu households turn to for strength, courage and protection from fear. He is called Sankat Mochan, the one who removes distress, and the puja is as often held in the middle of a difficulty as it is in thanksgiving once one has passed.

When Hanuman Puja is performed
Tuesday and Saturday are Hanuman ji's days, and most families hold the puja on one of them. Hanuman Jayanti, on the full moon of Chaitra, is the great annual occasion. The puja is also commonly held before an examination, a journey, a court date or a new job, and by families who keep a regular Tuesday observance.
Many who observe during Shani's Sade Sati worship Hanuman on Saturdays, following the tradition that Shani does not trouble his devotees.
What happens during Hanuman Puja
After Ganesh puja and sankalp, the pandit worships Rama first — Hanuman's puja traditionally begins with his lord's name — and then Hanuman ji. The chola is offered: sindoor mixed with chameli oil is applied to the murti, with a red or saffron cloth, a janeu, and a garland.
The Hanuman Chalisa is then recited, often several times over, along with the Bajrang Baan or the Hanuman Ashtak where the family wants them. Boondi or besan laddoo, gur and chana, and bananas are offered, and the puja closes with the Hanuman aarti and prasad.
Arranging a Hanuman Puja at home
You will need a murti or image of Hanuman ji, sindoor and chameli oil for the chola, a red cloth, red flowers, a janeu, boondi or laddoo, gur and roasted chana, a coconut, incense and a ghee or sesame-oil lamp. The pandit sends the full list before the date.
If you would like the Sundarkand recited as well, that is a longer observance with its own booking — say so and we will arrange it rather than cutting the path short to fit.
