About Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a limestone hill in Gombak, just north of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, with a series of caves and cave temples. It is one of the best-known Hindu shrines outside India and is dedicated to Bhagwan Murugan (Kartikeya).

A flight of 272 steps climbs past the tall golden statue of Murugan to the Temple Cave, which is where this view is taken. The festival of Thaipusam brings very large numbers of devotees here every year.

How to look around Batu Caves

Drag the picture with a finger or the mouse to turn, or use the arrow keys. Pinch or scroll to zoom in on a detail, and choose Full screen to fill the display. The view is a whole sphere, so you can look straight up and down as well as all the way round. On a phone, “Move phone to look” turns the view as you turn the phone, and in a browser that supports VR an Enter VR button appears for a headset.

The darshan is free and runs in the browser, with nothing to install. The photographer and the licence are named under each picture.

A virtual darshan is a way to see and remember the temple, not a substitute for the yatra or for worship there. AaradhyaHub is not affiliated with the temple or its committee. For a pooja performed with full vidhi, book a verified pandit.
