About Airavatesvara

The Airavatesvara temple at Darasuram, near Kumbakonam, is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiv. It was built in the 12th century by the Chola king Rajaraja II and is known for the fine carving of its pillars and walls.

Together with the temples at Thanjavur and Gangaikonda Cholapuram it forms the Great Living Chola Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This view is from inside its pillared mandapa.

A virtual darshan is a way to see and remember the temple, not a substitute for the yatra or for worship there. AaradhyaHub is not affiliated with the temple or its committee. For a pooja performed with full vidhi, book a verified pandit.
