महत्व · Significance
Vat Savitri Vrat is kept by married women in North India on the Amavasya of Jyeshtha. They worship the banyan tree, tie a thread around it and hear the story of Savitri, who won back her husband Satyavan from Yama. In Maharashtra and Gujarat the same vrat is kept on the full moon, as Vat Purnima.
